Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated individual who is interested in shadowing and working alongside our team of dog trainers.
If you are interested in pursuing a career in dog training, veterinary care or animal welfare, our facility is an excellent place to get practical and hands on experience while learning what it takes to be an ethical balanced dog trainer.
Duties:
- Assist in the basic care of the dogs in the Board and Train program, which includes feeding, watering, cleaning, and general care of the facility on a 10 acre property.
- Support trainers during classes and private lessons by taking notes, working dogs, and helping with other tasks the trainer may need while observing us handling clients and their pets.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of training areas and equipment.
- Must work in all weather conditions including hot summers and below freezing winters.
Experience:
- Previous experience in animal handling, veterinary settings, or pet care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of kennel operations and animal care practices is a plus but not necessary.
- Understanding the four quadrants of Operant Conditioning and Classical Conditioning is desirable.
Skills:
The following skills are highly desirable for the Training Assistant role:
- Animal handling - Heavy lifting - Kennel operations - Animal care practices - Veterinary knowledge - Pet grooming skills This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands on with dogs while shadowing under a group of highly skilled balance trainers who would be imparting daily education on dog behavior, handling, and classical training techniques to you all on a beautiful property in Berthoud, Colorado.
